Waiting on wednesday; The Heroes by: Joe Abercrombie

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I have a confession to make.   I have not read any of this authors works yet.  They are ALL on my bookshelf and my TBR pile on Goodreads, but none of them read yet.  I have read sample chapters and loved them and heard great things about this author.  But read from start to finish, no.  Still they remain on my radar.  Dude must be doing something right.  The idea of gritty fantasy is vastly appealing to me.  I feel a bit worn out by the standard tales of fantasy, good vs evil, prophesies, mentors, etc…  So I have really high hopes for this.

The Heroes by: Joe Abercrombie

War: where the blood and dirt of the battlefield hide the dark deeds committed in the name of glory. THE HEROES is about violence and ambition, gruesome deaths and betrayals; and the brutal truth that no plan survives contact with the enemy. The characters are the stars, as ever, and the message is dark: when it comes to war, there are no heroes…

Curnden Craw: a ruthless fighter who wants nothing more than to see his crew survive.

Prince Calder: a liar and a coward, he will regain his crown by any means necessary.

Bremer dan Gorst: a master swordsman, a failed bodyguard, his honor will be restored – in the blood of his enemies.

Over three days, their fates will be sealed.

What are you waiting for?  Leave a comment or post a link.  I would love to know!!
