“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Release Day: May 28 2012
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
Divergent was by far my favorite read this year. I shoved it into the hands of my writer friends and inssited that they read it. It is the type of novel that you can study craft from and yet still absolutely adore the story. It is edge of you seat action with characters you want to root for even though they have sharp edges you can cut yourself on.
I was jump up and down excited to see the cover for the second book. It has a tree!!! And swirly leafs and gorgeous stunning green clouds!!!! It screams sexy and totally awesome! More exclamation marks is what this cover needs in order to describe it!
P.S. go check out Aura‘s blog. Writing friend who is also doing Waiting on Wednesday. She is made of awesome and introduced me to both Firefly and Dr. Who.
